Camasunary bothy on Skye
I fell in love with this tiny wee bothy in such an enormous landscape. Camasunary is near Elgol on Skye, at the foot of Bla Bheinn, and right by the sea. Perfect!

Winter snow
Here’s a couple of my favourite snowy landscape photos from last year’s freeze, taken on a trip to Wiston Lodge.

Kilcheran Loch on Lismore
This is a cracking wee spot on Lismore on a hot day. The loch is right in the middle of the island, and easy to miss if you’re not looking out for it. It’s a great place for a swim, too.

Ballachulish and Glencoe
Mountains in the Scottish Highlands
Early evening on the shores of Loch Leven, and the weather suddenly looked very ominous:

Ullapool bay in the Scottish highlands
I was in Ullapool on the spring for the Adult Feis. What a fantastic weekend – there were countless opportunities for taking landscape photos around Ullapool. it’s a very photogenic place. The weekend was also packed with music, friends and fun, with a fantastic line up of musicians teaching and performing, and some lively sessions going on late into the night.
And someone even thought to lay on sunshine for the weekend. Perfect!
This was one of the more tranquil moments from the trip:

Landscape photo – autumnal Perthshire trees
I spent an afternoon along the south shores of Loch Tummel a couple of weekends ago. It was superb weather, and the trees were just turning nicely autumnal. I didn’t manage to cycle very far. It seemed as if every corner I turned revealed another spot for a great landscape photo.
I got wet feet taking this one!

Luskentyre sunset
For anyone who visits Harris in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, the beaches are a definite draw. Luskentyre is possibly the best known of the Harris beaches. At low tide, it’s an enormous expanse of golden sand. And it has the benefit, as it is on the west of the island, of some pretty photogenic sunsets as well.

What a beautiful spot to moor a wee boat!

Bridge over the Tay at Aberfeldy
There was some wild weather over the weekend that I took this photo back in May…and some lovely light in between the storms.

Kiloran Bay, Colonsay
I really enjoy taking landscape photos. I can tell already that I’m going to have to return to Colonsay to see more of this wonderful island. Kiloran bay, near the North end of Colonsay, is every bit as beautiful as everyone says!

Highland sunshine
I love moments like this! After a ridiculously wet couple of days, there was a wee burst of evening sun over Morvern in the Scottish Highlands, and I was lucky to be out with the camera just at the right time to take this landscape shot.

Dusk falling over Harris in the Outer Hebdrides – the evening light brought out some lovely subtle colours.

Taransay – the West side
Photos from the Outer Hebrides
Over on the West side of Taransay there’s an isthmus at Loch Uidhe. Both sides of the isthmuis have glorious sandy beaches.

The beach, Traigh an Siar, is completely pristine.

St Kilda – the stacks
When we were ready to leave St Kilda, our boat took us on a jaunt around the bottom of Boreray, Stac Lee and Stac an Armin. They are huge chunks of rock rearing straight out of the sea, and towered above our tiny wee boat.

Almost every available ledge on Stac an Armin seemed to have a gannet sitting on it.

Boreray was the only stack that seemed to have any colour.

Almost there
Glencoe
Somehow Glencoe seems to be ‘almost there’ for a lot of trips I make..it’s on the way to so many amazing places. It’s also an amazing place in itself. Thanks Niall for another great suggestion for the gallery!

Forest in Perthshire, Scotland
The woods are beautiful at this time of year – fresh bright leaves on the trees, and dappled sunshine are a great combination.
