I was up at the museum this morning. I wasn’t particularly looking for a photo to fit the ‘no strings’ title, but when I saw this ancient clarsach, it was the obvious subject. An amazing instrument from around 1500, riddled with woodworm at the back, and certainly no sign of any strings having lasted for 500 years!
