About

About Ros Gasson, Scottish photographer

I’m a bread-baking bike-riding fiddle-playing tent-pitching photo-snapping Edinburgher.

I got back into photography again early in 2008, when a friend asked me to use his digital SLR one evening, to take some pictures at the Celts in the Cotswolds annual festival. My favourite from the pictures I took that night is shown above – one of the guys in the fabulous Welsh band Mabon.

Thanks Ben, for lending me your camera!

I’m enjoying experimenting with photography (…and playing the fiddle, but that’s another story!). These pages are primarily for photos I’ve taken around Scotland. I’ll have a go at taking photos of almost anything, but I do particularly enjoy taking landscapes, nature photos, and photos at gigs and community events.

I don’t pretend to know a lot about the technical aspects of using a camera. I’m no expert, but I know enough to get by. I’m intrigued by all the other elements of what’s happening when you take a shot, and how these can combine to produce a good photo.

I’m lucky to live in Scotland – it’s full of beautiful places, and there’s plenty to photograph. I hope you enjoy seeing the results, as much as I’ve enjoyed taking the pictures!
